Family Care partner: FESF - Project Managers Richard and Victoria Geary, Frances and Maria Doherty
With the literacy rate in Pakistan estimated at 25-30%, the main thrust of Family Educational Services Foundation (FESF) is to help improve the quality of education.
FESF's Eduserve program is designed to strengthen the local educational infrastructure by training teachers, administrators, and parents.
Another prominent program at their centers in Karachi and Lahore is Deaf Reach, a specialized training program for hearing-impaired youth and young adults, effectively operational since 1990. The Deaf Reach Training Centers have successfully trained hundreds of deaf youth in English, communication skills, computer literacy and other vocational training.
Other FESF activities include music therapy for mentally and physically handicapped children, educational seminars for parents and teachers, and dissemination of educational materials and teaching aids.
